YouTube Kids is designed with the intent to create a safe and engaging environment for children to explore videos. The app is filled with features that cater specifically to the needs of young viewers and their parents. Here are some of the standout features that make YouTube Kids a valuable tool for family entertainment:
Using YouTube Kids has become a staple in our household routine. On busy mornings, when I need to prepare breakfast, I often set my kids up with the app on our tablet. It provides a few moments of peace as they dive into their favorite educational shows. In the afternoons, when they need some downtime after school, the app serves as a go-to source for entertainment that I can trust to be age-appropriate. I love how it allows them to explore their interests, whether it’s crafting, science experiments, or animated stories, all within a safe environment.
The user interface of YouTube Kids is vibrant and engaging, making it appealing to children. The layout is simple, with large icons and easily navigable menus that even my youngest can use without assistance. I appreciate the fact that the videos load quickly without lagging, providing a seamless viewing experience. The feature workflow is intuitive; kids can easily search for videos or browse categories like "Shows," "Music," or "Learning." Overall, using the app leaves me feeling reassured knowing my kids are engaged with educational and entertaining content.
YouTube Kids is free to download and use, making it accessible for families without a financial commitment. While the app does offer an ad-supported model, the benefits far outweigh any drawbacks for us. The occasional advertisement is generally related to kid-friendly products, which I feel is acceptable considering the vast array of content available for free.
The app is regularly updated with new features and enhancements, which keeps the experience fresh for users. I’ve noticed improvements in the content curation process, and the introduction of new shows has kept my kids excited about using the app. Should any issues arise, customer support is readily available through the app, providing peace of mind for parents like myself who want a reliable resource for their children’s entertainment.
As a parent, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to apps for my children. YouTube Kids, available on both the App Store and Google Play, takes these concerns seriously. When registering for the app, personal data requirements are minimal, which I greatly appreciate. The app does not require sensitive information like a home address or financial details, ensuring that my children's data remains secure.
In terms of advertisements, YouTube Kids does include ads, but they are filtered to ensure they are appropriate for children. The tracking behavior is also limited, focusing on providing a safer viewing experience. I feel comfortable letting my kids explore the app, knowing that their privacy is respected and protected. Overall, YouTube Kids strikes a commendable balance between providing entertaining content and ensuring safety for its young users.

It's like okay. I wish I can add channels that are not for kids too, and block all videos that are over 30 mins. The timer concept is not bad but it cuts off in the middle of a video. Of course the 5 year old will have a tantrum. It would be awesome if it only recommends videos of the length of time left. Like if there is only 10 minutes left, then only recommend videos under 10 mins, if only 2 minutes left, recommend only videos under 2 minutes. I don't think they'll fix it tho.

Decent, but needs some improvement. It's nice to have more control of what my child sees on YouTube. The parental controls are good. The video controls are lacking; rewind is a 10 second rewind, there is no option to start from the beginning. If you go back to watch a video that you had already watched halfway, you have to watch from the last watched part. The select highlight on the tv is white on pale blue, it is not easy to see.

Love this for my 4 and 8 year olds. Has settings for parental controls (time limits, video types, history, ect) and I can easily set a pass code and timer. Also, you sign in with your YouTube account, but nothing on there goes into your history. Great app. Would like for there to be a better way to block videos or categories of videos. And to show only certain videos. If you have kids ages 4 to 10 this app is perfect.

I have the app on both my phone and our smart TV. It is a great collection of kids videos for all ages. I do have a suggestions. For phone, it is simple to slide the bar back to the beginning, but I'd like to see a restart or start from beginning button for TV app. For phone, I'm able to subscribe to channels but not while on the TV app. For TV app, if the highlight could be another color or bolder, it would be easier to locate.

My little one loves YouTube Kids! She's nearly 2 and can navigate the app pretty easily. The videos are age appropriate. She loves the songs and videos! I've been noticing that she's learning a lot from the app, which is great! She sings along with the songs! Her favorite is Wheels on the Bus! For example there's a lot of videos showing things like what firemen and women do, etc. So she won't be afraid of helpful people who might look scary in uniform to such a small child. Highly recommend!
