Overall, it's a great version of the game. There are a lot of QoLs for mobile so you know that they put a lot of thought into making it a great experience. I was a little apprehensive at the updated sprites at first, but after playing for a while now I think I'm on board. I really wish there was an option for a different font and I REALLY can't understand why the extra content wasn't included in this version. I don't buy the "keeping it close to the original" explanation. Hopefully it'll get released in an update... I also wish the bestiary was accessible in-game instead of only at the menu.

I did not experience the problems other players reported. Possibly fixed with an update. Double experience, double gold, half prices in shops, monsters are weakened, and maps are available for the dungeons. It's designed to give you that sense of nostalgia replaying a childhood favorite and also to be quick playing mobile rpg. I personally thought it was excellent. Most excellent.

Game constantly freezes. If you lock your phone and come back the game is completely unresponsive. Must save every 5 minutes or risk losing 10-20 minutes of progress if you get a phone call or check a text. Overall. Looks good plays good, sounds good. But for god's sake, don't require me to have an internet connection to play it. That's a joke.

Game somehow feels disappointing. I've beaten Final Fantasy 30+ times in my life, played on every platform and every version. This one seems off. Cons: 8-way control is too sensitive, I can't walk through doors or talk to people without going off in the wrong direction. Font is not that great, just hard on the eyes. No controller support. No auto save on close. Seems a little laggy at times for no reason. Colors of villages look horrible. Sprites are eh. Pros: Slightly better music.

I'd give it a 4 if not for the drm and I'd give it a 5 if it had an option for original difficulty. Shop prices are halved and experience for level up is reduced. Makes the game too easy especially without the bonus content from previous releases. Went for throw back graphics, why not throw back difficulty? On the plus side the music is beautiful. So too are the visuals. Spell effects especially. Seems they we're going for a sort of 16bit+ look and feel and I think they nailed it.
